State of the Field: Borderlands History in Early America Thursday, March 26, 2009; 10:30 AM Borderlands History has been dramatically redefined in the last few decades, moving well beyond Herbert Bolton's 1920s focus on the "Spanish Borderlands" to include a wide range of places and types of encounters and exchanges. In this panel, historians whose own work helped change the field will evaluate the most recent scholarly trends.
