The Lerner-Scott Dissertation
Prize was given for the first time in 1992 for the best doctoral dissertation
in U.S. women's history. The prize is named for Gerda Lerner and Anne
Firor Scott, both pioneers in women's history and past presidents of the
Organization of American Historians.
Please note that it is the policy of the OAH to honor those applicants who have submitted their applications on or before the stated deadline date. Applications which are not received by close of business on the deadline date will not be considered. Finalists will be asked to submit a
complete copy of the dissertation at a later date.
The winner receives $1,000. The prize will be presented at the 2011 annual meeting of the OAH in Houston, Texas, March 17-20.
