Martha Biondi
Northwestern University
Martha Biondi is associate professor of African American studies and history at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on African American social movements and antiracist activism. Her book, To Stand and Fight: The Struggle for Civil Rights in Postwar New York City (2003), rewrites the narrative of the modern civil rights movement and emphasizes the centrality of the urban North. She is currently writing a book on the Black student movement and the origins of African American studies. Lecture topics:
