2004 OAH Regional Meeting

Travel Assistance Awards for Teachers to Attend the 2004 OAH Regional Meeting

Thanks to the generous support of the Liberty Legacy Foundation, the Organization of American Historians is pleased to announce travel fellowships for precollegiate history teachers to attend the 2004 OAH Southern Regional Conference in Atlanta, July 8-11. This meeting affords a unique opportunity for teachers to enhance their professional development by attending sessions specifically geared to classroom teaching, as well as scholarly research and public history, in the form of workshops, roundtables, panels, and other presentations. Amidst the many sessions and events of the conference there will run a thread of sessions on teaching, as well as a thread of sessions on the state of the field in several areas (i.e., Native American, Labor, Women, Immigration, African American, Atlantic World, and Urban history).

Fifty fellowships of $200 each will be awarded for travel related expenses. The competition is open to all precollegiate teachers of American history who have not yet had an opportunity to attend an OAH meeting.
