The one-hundredth annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians will be held in Minneapolis, March 29-April 1, 2007. In addition to commemorating the centenary of the organization, the meeting is dedicated to the theme of "American Values." The United States has from its beginnings justified its existence and its role in the world in terms of universal values, but has at the same time laid claim to a particular set of American values.

Registration

Register for the 2007 meeting by visiting the OAH registration area on the Mezzanine Level of Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) during the following hours:
Thursday, March 29 -- 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday, March 30 -- 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 31 -- 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 1 -- 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Convention Hotels

[Update: March 8, 2007] The deadline for reservations at the OAH hotels has passed. Rooms may still be available at the Hilton or the Millennium, but the OAH rate is no longer available. Another option in the downtown area is the Doubletree Guest Suites Minneapolis, 1101 LaSalle Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403; p: 612-332-6800.

OAH will use two hotels for the 2007 Annual Meeting: the Hilton Minneapolis and the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis. The Hilton Minneapolis (612-376-1000)will serve as headquarters hotel and will host many meal functions and receptions. While there are no rooms available Wednesday night, guest rooms for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights are available at the reduced rate for OAH convention attendees of $134, single; $144, double. Rates are exclusive of state and local taxes, currently 13.15%. Make reservations at the Hilton online.

The OAH also has a room block at the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis (612-332-6000). Guest room rates are available for OAH convention attendees at $128, single; $138, double. Book Exhibits

This year's book exhibit will take place on the Lower Level of the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC). The exhibit hall will be open during these hours:

Thursday, March 29 -- 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday, March 30 -- 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 31 -- 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 1 -- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Session Abstracts Online

For the first time, the OAH will provide abstracts for each session online. OAH members can view the abstracts by logging into the OAH Member Services section of the website.

2007 OAH Poster Session

For the first time this year, the OAH will host a poster session for graduate students and others interested in presenting current public history projects, research, or teaching strategies. The proposal deadline is February 15, 2007. Submit a proposal now.

Immigration History Research Center
Invites Attendees to Workshop

OAH annual meeting attendees are invited to a post convention workshop, "Immigration Historians and the Media," Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2007, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Immigration History Research Center on the West Bank Campus of the University of Minnesota. Transportation from downtown hotels and to airport will be provided; free lunch onsite. more>
