OAH Announces Inaugural Teaching Seminar in China

Thanks to a generous grant from the Ford Foundation, the Organization of American Historians is pleased to announce the inaugural teaching seminar in the People’s Republic of China, sponsored by the American History Research Association of China (AHRAC). The OAH International Committee seeks applications from OAH members who are established scholars interested in leading an advanced seminar focusing on American social history. We are specifically looking for scholars who specialize in immigration, ethnicity, and urban history, and are interested in leading a one week seminar in June 2013 for graduate students and faculty drawn from throughout China. Northeast Normal University at Changchun will host the inaugural seminar.

Three scholars will be selected to lead seminars scheduled for June 2013. Those selected to participate will receive round–trip airfare between the United States and China, as well as a modest per diem to cover living expenses. The application process requires a short c.v. (3–5 pages), the name and contact information of three references who can speak to the applicant’s teaching and scholarship, and a brief outline of an intensive week long seminar. The deadline for the application is November 2, 2012 and must to be sent electronically to prizes at oah.org. Please indicate “2013 China Residency Program” in the subject line.
