The Civil War at 150

Civilwar Preview

Lt. James B. Washington, a Confederate prisoner, with Capt. George A. Custer of the 5th Cavalry, U.S.A.

During the sesquicentennial of the Civil War (spring 2011–spring 2015), the Organization of American Historians is committed to bringing the best current thinking on this complex era to a wide audience. In keeping with our mission to promote excellence in the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American history, we aim to explore the war from its beginnings through its aftermath, remaining especially mindful of the needs of history students, the challenges faced by public historians, and the curiosity of the general public.

The OAH Distinguished Lecturers listed below can speak on all aspects of the conflict. To schedule a lecture or to request more information, contact the lectureship program coordinator.
