The Organization of American Historians publishes three quarterly titles: the Journal of American History, the OAH Newsletter, and the OAH Magazine of History. We also publish the annual OAH Annual Meeting Program.

Journal of American History

Journal of American HistoryThe Journal of American History is the leading scholarly publication in the field of U.S. history and is well known as the major resource for the study, investigation, and teaching of our nation's past. Appearing quarterly since 1914, the Journal has a distinguished history of its own, publishing many prize-winning and widely reprinted scholarly articles. The Journal also features historiographic essays and reviews of books, films, exhibitions, and Web sites. Its ongoing initiative in internationalization places American history in a global context, and its "Teaching the JAH" project brings the latest scholarly research into the U. S. history classroom. The Journal's Recent Scholarship bibliography is now available to OAH members as an online searchable database.

OAH Magazine of History

OAH Magazine of HistorySince 1985, each issue of the OAH Magazine of History focuses on a theme or topic of recent scholarship in American history, and provides readers with informative articles, lesson plans, and current historiography. Also part of each quarterly issue is a column entitled, "America on the World Stage," a collaboration between The College Board and the OAH, which seeks to place events in U.S. history into a global perspective. Recent issues (back to April 2003) of the OAH Magazine of History are also available online to current OAH members.

OAH Newsletter

OAH NewsletterEstablished in 1973 to "give the membership as much current information as possible about the activities of the organization," all members receive paper and online versions of the quarterly OAH Newsletter. Each issue offers timely news of the organization, as well as essays and information on key issues and opportunities in the profession.

Annual Meeting Program

OAH Annual Meeting ProgramMailed to the membership each January, the OAH Annual Meeting Program includes information about the OAH Annual Meeting, held in the spring of each year. The meeting provides an opportunity to join colleagues for conversations on a broad range of issues, make professional contacts, and view the latest historical publications in the annual meeting exhibit hall. The meeting also includes Focus on Teaching sessions and a series of professional sessions for graduate students, as well as tours and off-site sessions.
