Industrialization - Interpersonal
Condition:
Family numbers 8--parents and six children, five girls and one boy, aged from one to twelve years. Three of them go to school regularly. The house they live in contains 4 rooms, and they pay $10 per month for it. They would like to have more room, but the owners of the tenement do not wish to rent to families having many children. Father says he is satisfied with the general condition, if wages remain as good as they are at present. He belongs to trades union, but carries no life insurance. He works about 30 weeks in the year, and receives on an average $4 per day for his services.
