Past OAH President and Distinguished Member, Carl N. Degler, passed away on December 27, 2014. Professor Degler began his career at Vasser College before moving to Stanford University in 1968. He was one of two men invited to be founding members of the National Organization of Women in 1966. In 1972, his book Neither Black nor White: Slavery and Race Relations in Brazil and the United States won the Pulitzer Prize. He was president of the OAH from 1979 to 1980.
