General Operating Fund

The General Operating Fund helps offset the daily operating costs of the organization, its programs, and the provision of benefits to members.

Earl Lewis Challenge

In 2019, then OAH president Earl Lewis made a gift of $50,000 to build OAH’s reserve fund, and announced a challenge: Professor Lewis agreed to donate another $50,000 if the OAH raises $500,000 in the coming five years.


Other OAH Funds

Second Century Fund

The Second Century Fund was created on the occasion of OAH’s Centennial in 2007 to address the concerns facing American history by strengthening resources available for teachers and students, encouraging professional development in community colleges, and enhancing academic scholarship in the profession.

Hata Education Fund

The Hata Education Fund was established by Nadine and Don Hata to encourage and promote the teaching and learning of American history at four-year and community colleges.

The Fund for American History

The Fund for American History is a board-restricted fund that funds new initiatives and ongoing projects.

The OAH Prize Fund

The organization provides cash awards for more than 20 awards and prizes promoting excellence in scholarship, teaching, and professional service.
