Connecting Classroom to Community: Saratoga Springs High School Partners with History Center
Saratoga County, NY – The Saratoga County History Center is pleased to announce a new partnership with Saratoga Springs High School. The History Center is eager to support young scholars, give them a venue to present their work, and connect the classroom to the community. At 7pm on Tuesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 3, students from the high school’s Saratoga Pathways Academy (an interdisciplinary history-literature, project-based program), will present their explorations of human rights issues since World War Two. Four groups will present each night for ten minutes per group. After each presentation, audience members and a panel of judges will assess the project, offer feedback, and ask questions. The two-night event will be held on Zoom and is free and open to the public. Audience participation is encouraged. We welcome the family and friends of the student presenters, as well as anyone interested in history, human rights, or education in general. “This is a terrific opportunity for Saratogians to see what is happening in their schools, support their children, and maybe even learn a thing or two!” notes History Center trustee Dr. Michael Landis.
Register for this event. Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email.
The History Center hopes to expand the partnership with Saratoga Springs High School in coming years. With Brookside Museum re-opening this summer, there are plenty of opportunities for young historians to get real-life experience in research, exhibits, genealogy, media, and public speaking.
The Saratoga County History Center is dedicated to preserving and sharing the diverse histories of Saratoga County. Previously focused on the Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa, the History Center now offers a wide variety of innovative, exciting, and educational programming online. A town hall-style public forum on climate change and historic preservation is slated for the fall. When Brookside Museum re-opens this summer, the History Center will debut new exhibits and family-friendly events.
