The Marcus Garvey Memorial Foundation Research Fellowship

This grant supports doctoral candidates conducting primary research in the Humanities and Social Sciences on topics related to African American, African, and African diaspora history/studies. Doctoral candidates using archival collections and/or conducting oral histories are especially encouraged to apply.

Research fellows receive grants of $500 to help defray research expenses

Deadline: February 14, 2020

Decisions will be announced by April 15, 2020

Required application materials:

  • 2-page summary of the larger research project (single- or double-spaced)
  • 1-page description of the specific research to be carried out with the grant (single- or double-spaced), along with a line-item budget (for up to $500.00) and research timeline
  • Curriculum Vitae (no page limit)
  • One recommendation from an advising professor (either directly from the professor or through a dossier service like Interfolio)
