MSU Press/Catherine Cocks

I am currently editor-in-chief at Michigan State University Press. I earned my PhD in US history at the University of California, Davis, and I am the author of two scholarly books, Doing the Town (University of California Press) and Tropical Whites (University of Pennsylvania Press). I’m happy to offer advice about careers in scholarly publishing or to talk about how to get your manuscript published, including new options for multimedia work. I acquire projects in US twentieth-century, African American, African Diaspora, and African history.

If you’re interested in the state of scholarly publishing, I’m always glad to talk about it. Check out Feeding the Elephant on H-Net for some of my writing on this topic, or listen to the first episode of MSU Press’s new podcast.
