Abstract
The National Park Service invites scholars and potential partners to join this roundtable discussion and explore opportunities to collaborate in planning and implementing the agency’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. NPS public history specialists will provide an overview of the agency’s role in the United States Semiquincentennial Commission (established by Public Law 114-196) and facilitate a conversation about how professional historians can contribute to the development and implementation of a commemorative strategy to engage contemporary communities and explore the significance of the ideas, people, and events that continue to shape the constitution of a nation.
