The Omohundro Institute of Early American History & Culture (more commonly referred to by the shorthand “OI”) is an independent research organization sponsored by William & Mary and dedicated to building intellectual infrastructure by supporting scholars and scholarship focused on early American history. The OI has produced a deep bench of award-winning scholarly monographs on a variety of topics; publishes the leading journal in the field, the William and Mary Quarterly; and sponsors events including conferences designed to bring together scholars at various levels of career achievement.
