The Omohundro Institute of Early American History & Culture (more commonly referred to by the shorthand “OI”) is an independent research organization sponsored by William & Mary and dedicated to building intellectual infrastructure by supporting scholars and scholarship focused on early American history. The OI has produced a deep bench of award-winning scholarly monographs on a variety of topics; publishes the leading journal in the field, the William and Mary Quarterly; and sponsors events including conferences designed to bring together scholars at various levels of career achievement. The OI invites inquiries from authors of scholarly works pertaining to the histories and cultures of North America from circa 1450 to 1820, including related developments in the British Isles, Europe, West Africa, and the Caribbean.
