Immigration History

The December 2021 issue of The American Historian features three articles on "Immigration History." One essay discusses the debates surrounding immigration post 1965 to show the historical context for current anti-immigration rhetoric. Another feature discusses Indian and Pakistani immigration to the Sun Belt in the 1950s and 1960s and details how these immigrants navigated racial constraints in the post-Jim Crow South. The final features details how increased Latine immigration led to a series of urban riots and protests in the late 20th century as these immigrants fought for social and economic rights. The issue also includes a piece on how to redesign your introductory survey in a large research university, and an essay on how to guide students through the process of making podcasts for class assignments.
