The American Historian welcomes submissions and article proposals for consideration for publication in its print issues and its website. We welcome proposals and submissions on all topics related to American history.

All submissions, whether solicited or unsolicited, are evaluated by The American Historian‘s staff and in some cases, by an outside reviewer. We cannot guarantee that a submission will result in publication. In most cases, we will ask authors of accepted submissions to make edits and additions.

Word counts for submissions vary, but we generally discourage pieces over 3000 words in length. Authors may include endnotes in their articles, but heavy use of endnotes is discouraged.

Submissions, proposals, or questions can be emailed to: [email protected].
